As Bailey's 8th birthday neared, I realised that this poor wee boy had only ever had one proper birthday party - his 1st birthday! It's not that we had intended on him to never have birthday parties, it just happened that way! So, with much excitement, I asked Bailey if he wanted to have a party with his friends to celebrate turning eight. (He had been constantly reminding me that when he turns 8, he will no longer be my baby because he will nearly be a man!) His response to the suggestion of a party was..."If you think I should have one, ok then." Hmmmm not exactly over the moon excited! Bailey was given four options for his party...1= a party in the park with a BBQ and party food and heaps of games like three legged races, apple bobbing, bullrush and a treasure hunt.
2= Tenpin Bowling party. 3= a dvd sleep over party. 4= Go Wild Adventure party. ( A kids playzone place like Chipmunks). After much thought and changing of his mind, Bailey decided on option 4 - Go Wild Adventure Party. I took him down there to see if we could possibly book it in for the following weekend. Lucky for us they had a space empty on the Sunday! Bailey got to choose which party room he wanted and the choice was easy - a glow in the dark spaceroom! Then Bailey had to choose the party food from their huge menu. He did well with hot chips and sausages, fruit and mashmallow kebabs, sandwiches, lollies and orange juice. Then came the time to decide on a cake. Bailey refused to choose a cake from the venue. He said they were to expensive!!! He was right - $60 for an icecream cake was tooooo expensive. Bailey asked if he could bring his own cake - they said yes. With that all organised and paid for, we headed for the car. Bailey then said "Hey Mum, while we do the grocery shopping, I will show you what cake to get for me." I thought this can't get any easier, he doesn't even want me to make his cake! At the supermarket Bailey showed me a sign in the Bakery department saying that the made special cakes to order. I had never myself noticed this before! We spoke to a baker and he showed us the different options and Bailey made his choice. Check out the pictures! The day came, Bailey and his 6 friends and Kaela all had a great time! Bailey was even so thoughtful that he invited a girl from his class that lived in the same complex as us and is a good friend of both Bailey and Kaela - so Kaela would have a girl to play with. The day went really well, Bailey loved being king for a day!
